The UWinnipeg Theatre Department returns with another innovative production unlike any other you will see at this year's Fringe. Tom Stroud, who brought the smash interpretation of A Doll's House to Fringe '09, creates another lyrical and expressionistic adaptation of a timeless classic. You can't miss this new look at Shakespeare's most famous story of love and tragedy!

Your Review While some actors stood out in the University of Winnipeg theatre students' production of Romeo & Juliet, renamed here Juliet & Romeo, most of the show fell flat on its indecision of whether to modernize this classic or not. It all starts with the show's new name, changed here for no reason I could discern, and continues all the way to bizarre wardrobe, casting and script choices. Some innovative stabs in the dark are certainly made here - Romeo and Juliet are both played by women, with Tattoo and Katty Perry providing the soundtrack, and there is a weird switch of actors halfway through... But mostly, the audience is just left wondering what just happened there, and where it was all going.
