We had our wedding at the Transcona Country Club last week.
The previous posters couldn't be more wrong!
Leanne was such a great help with everything. Not only did they just install brand new flooring and bathrooms in my hall, but she told me that they had done some pretty extensive changes to their menu.
I could not have had a more pleasurable experience and I think it's the cheapest compared to any other place that we looked.
My husband and I had our wedding at the Transcona Country Club in August and I can’t say enough great things about the venue. Leanne was such a great help with all of the planning, and was able to answer all of our questions (nomatter how many times we called).
The service was fantastic, the bartenders and serving staff were polite and took their time with all of my guests. I had several elderly relatives at the wedding, so it was great to see how much attention to detail they had. The food was amazing, and the best part was how inexpensive it was!
We decided to have our ceremony there as well, and the outdoor courtyard next to the golf course was such a nice touch to a magical day.
Everything went off without a hitch, and I am happy to recommend this place to all of my friends!!!
What a beautiful wedding.. what a horrible establishment: Transcona Country Club. Where to begin? On the surface everything looked beautiful. Well, except for the unkept bathrooms. When we found our seating arrangement we quickly sat down to begin the festivities. Being at this special occasions we quickly poured a glass of red wine (which, to our surprise, was not corked.. and neither were any of the other bottles), and to our disgust there were chunks in the wine. We soon found out that the chunks in the wine, that I failed to see until I brought my glass into the light, were fruit flies. I was chewing on about 2 dozen of them in my mouth. When asked for a new bottle, here came another filled with fruit flies. When asked for a third bottle, here came another (or the same) bottle but a third empty... Really, you’re going to skim the top of the wine and claim it’s a fresh bottle? Be more clever than that! This unfortunate matter was not isolated to our table. What made matters worse was the lack of professionalism by both staff and the management. Staff members were clearly instructed on more than one occasion to put out 1 bottle of wine per table, not 2. The bride and groom were being charged for all of this extra wine, including the bottles filled with the disgusting fruit flies. To add to the bill, bartenders were instructed to serve singles, not doubles, but doubles were being served all night long. At the end of the night, when bride and groom wanted to go to their humble abode as husband and wife, the infested wine and doubles added an extra $$$$ to the total cost. Coming from a health/nutrition background and having managed in the restaurant business - I understand things go awry, but you apologize and clear the matter up as quickly as possible for the sake of your business and for peace of mind for the patrons involved. When I presented the manager with my disgust in the establishment, he had complete disregard for the traumatic experience that I had undergone (having chewed through my wine), and did not apologize. Many tears were flowing between bride and groom, but only cold, callous, and calculated $$ remarks from the individuals at Transcona Country Club. Now, is this the way YOU would like to spend your wedding evening? I think not.
This place is truly stuck in the 1980's. I was in the bridal party and was shocked that the bride chose this location, especially for the money she paid. The decor was so dingy and needs an update badly. The bathrooms were falling apart and stunk of sewage the entire night. I will say the layout of having a dinner location and then reception location was convenient and the service was quite good. But overall this place needs a major overhall - let's get updated to 2010 Transcona Country Club!
